Sikelia — which means Sicily in Greek — wants to tell the mythology and legends of Sicily through its perfumes. Creativity, quality, passion and history are the values that inspire our work. Each perfume is a legend, a story. The Sikelia Collection, includes six unisex eau de parfums — Atma, Nikos, Triskelè, Kalsa, Morus and Medusa.

The Myths
Discover the myths behind the perfumesAtma tells the story of Enceladus, a half-human, half-animal creature.
Enceladus’ thirst for power led him and other giants to take part in a battle to reach the heavens and take away Zeus’ power.
They took all their mounts and piled them on top of each other to reach the heavens. When they were almost at the throne of Zeus, he threw a thunderbolt and buried Enceladus under Mount Etna.
We have tried to capture the history, wrath and fiery breath of Enceladus in a unique fragrance. And we have succeeded!
The Nikos fragrance is inspired by the legend of Colapesce.
Colapesce was a man with a great passion for the sea who was cursed to be half man and half fish.
The King of Sicily, Frederick II, heard of the man’s wondrous deeds and decided to put him to the test by throwing his crown into the sea and promising him important gifts if he recovered it.
When Colapesce went down to retrieve the crown, he noticed that one of the three pillars supporting Sicily was breaking, so he decided to stay at the bottom of the sea to support Sicily.
This aldehydic fragrance is inspired by the legend of Colapesce, the smell of the sea and the breeze carried by the wind.
Triskelè is the symbol of Sicily, and with this perfume we tell the story of the three cultures that have ruled Sicily. The top notes come from the Roman culture, the middle notes from the Greek culture and the bottom notes from the Arab culture.
A fragrance rich in scents, cultures and traditions. Triskelè celebrates the earth, its cycles and its history.
It tells the legend of Morus head.
One day, a young Muslim named Morus was walking through the streets of Palermo when he saw a beautiful girl on a balcony watering basil.
They fell in love.
One day, however, he confessed to her that he had to return to his country because his wife and children were waiting for him. Kalsa became jealous and, while Morus slept, she cut off his head and used it as a vase for her basil, which she watered with her tears.
Tears of love that made the basil in that ‘vase’ the most beautiful and luxuriant in all of Palermo. This aroused the envy of the other inhabitants of the neighborhood, who, not to be outdone, began to build vases similar to that head.
It tells the story of Medusa, inspired by the poison that pervaded her life and that of her serpents.
In Greek mythology, she is one of the three Gorgons, daughters of the sea gods Forco and Ceto. She is described as petrifying, repulsive, her head full of live poisonous snakes. A monster, but was she always a monster?
Ovid tells first of Medusa’s beauty and innocence, and later of her darkness. He emphasises the real monsters: deception, power, evil.
The darkness did not reign in Medusa; Poseidon and Athena unleashed it.

Each Perfume is Carefully Handcrafted
The elements that make up Sikelia’s creations are not industrially produced, but are mostly handcrafted. Each perfume stopper is handcrafted by selected artisans in Caltagirone and decorated with a satin tassel. The logo and the case, although in different materials, are inspired by ceramics, celebrating the art of Sicilian majolica in amodern key. All the details are the result of skilled craftsmanship and make each Sikelia perfume unique.
The Origins
Sikelia's StoryThe man has always been in search of the supernatural and the mysterious world of the divine to justify his earthly existence and to direct his behavior. Thus, for centuries, fairy tales, tales of the ancient world have captivated, kidnapped and educated a humanity increasingly in search of certainties. It seems a paradox that today in a hyper-tech world, where a satellite is able to map the earth, there is a need for legends.
The ProjectSikelia Parfums are the product of a long research and study of the world of perfumes and in particular of Sicilian mythologies and legends The project, the formulation of perfumes, the materials used, are part of a careful selection of Sicilians artists and artisans. Our production takes place in limited quantities and this allows a scrupulous control over the quality of every single aspect.
